Franklin, Tenn., Feb. 17, 2015 - Experian Health today announced that its industry-leading Patient Access and Orders Management products and services are now available to independent laboratories across the nation. Both offerings help the sector solve Revenue Cycle Management and Clinical Data Exchange challenges better and prepare for Meaningful Use Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) Stages 2 and 3.

"Independent laboratories routinely face the challenge of providing services that are never paid or that are paid only after extremely long delays," said Scott Bagwell, president of Experian Health and Passport. "In order to overcome this challenge successfully and meet current regulatory requirements, independent laboratories need solutions included in our Patient Access and Orders Management suites that can provide them with information to take action, maximize reimbursements and increase productivity."

Experian Health's Orders Management suite of solutions directly send and track outpatient orders with connected facilities and enable physicians to receive the results electronically. To accomplish this, Experian Health uses its vast data repository of patient and payer data so that orders can be checked for insurance eligibility, address verification, payment estimates, prior authorizations and medical necessity compliance, in addition to providing market-specific data analytics. These types of services help change the way labs communicate with healthcare providers and patients, how they deliver services, educate their workforce, market themselves and track clinical information.

The Patient Access suite of products and services help automate revenue cycle workflows intelligently and clear patients financially. This approach enables laboratories and other health organizations to centralize operations, where appropriate, and focus resource efforts only on those exceptions that need attention. The resulting benefit is significant in that it optimizes payment certainty across all patients while enabling healthcare providers to manage all orders, scheduling, registration and financial clearance through a single business partner. Additionally, Experian Health has been awarded the 2014 Best in KLAS award for Patient Access. This is the fourth straight year that Experian Health has received the highest ranking in the patient-access category, with three years as the category leader in patient access - eligibility checking and now Best in KLAS this year in the broader Patient Access category.
