Alstom and the Centre d'Essais Ferroviaires (CEF) have inaugurated the new climatic chamber at the Centre d'Essais Ferroviaires de Petite-Forêt, designed to develop heating, air-conditioning and insulation systems for rolling stock with a view to homologation.

This new test chamber enables trains, buses, coaches and other vehicles to be subjected to temperatures ranging from 70ºC to -45ºC.

As France's second climatic chamber, it complements Alstom's La Rochelle facility and will reduce the need for comparable climatic test chambers located abroad.

' This new test facility is also intended to pave the way for research, development and innovation projects in fields as varied as indoor air quality, energy consumption and the resistance and aging of materials ' says the group.
