ERKELENZ (dpa-AFX) - In the settlement of Lützerath, occupied by climate activists, the night passed quietly, according to police. Still activists persevered in an underground tunnel, said a police spokesman on Friday.

On Thursday, more than 300 people left Lützerath by evening. The identities of about 70 people were established. Criminal charges were filed against six people for resisting law enforcement officers and damaging property.

Since the beginning of the operation, judges had sent three people into long-term custody, it was said. Two of them were released from custody after revealing their personal details.

Eleven police officers were reported to have been injured by no fault of their own, and two police officers were unable to continue their duties. Five police officers were injured by external causes, but were able to remain on duty. On the part of the squatters scene, one person was slightly injured.

On Friday morning, activists protested in front of the RWE headquarters in Essen. According to their statements, several of them chained themselves to the entrance gate. A police spokesman said RWE security had reported a corresponding incident to them. "We are on the approach," they said./fc/DP/mis
