At the American Public Power Association's National Conference in Orlando, Florida, June 19-21, Willdan plans to officially launch its integrated Community Energy platform, Wattcommons. Public Power authorities can achieve lower risks, lower kWh costs and greater customer satisfaction by leveraging Willdan's decades-proven service to public entities with civil and energy engineering and public finance consulting. Ryan Marlborough, Willdan's Director of Community Energy, said: 'Today's customers are demanding more choice and sustainability from Public Power. Community Energy projects can address both customer demands, but create challenges for a utility: project development and financing, subscriber management, and long term operation require resources and know-how that Public Power may lack. Willdan can help. Wattcommons delivers a full suite of services from feasibility and stakeholder engagement, to initial engineering and construction, long term operation, and subscriber management.'
Mr. Marlborough joined Willdan's Washington, DC, office to promote the new community energy platform, bringing nine years of experience in different sectors of the solar energy industry and an MBA from George Washington University.
Lisa Vedder, Principal Consultant and expert on electric utility financial management, added: 'Managing enrollment, invoicing, collections, retention and everyday customer questions for community energy projects can be daunting. For Willdan, handling this type of work for thousands of accounts is in our DNA.'
On June 18, a preconference workshop on Working Solar into Your Business Model (CPEs 3.5) will be led by Lisa Vedder and Dave Buemi, Senior Vice President for Clean Energy Programs, along with Charles Koontz and Matt Zahnder.
