Saint-Gobain, via its subsidiary Chryso, announces that it has finalized the acquisition of Matchem and signed an exclusive agreement to acquire IDP Chemicals, two companies positioned in the buoyant building and infrastructure segments in Brazil and Egypt.

'These acquisitions will enable Saint-Gobain to strengthen its position in building chemistry, particularly in concrete admixtures, which are essential in the decarbonization of construction', stresses the French group.

Matchem employs around 50 people at two sites in Brazil, and has generated sales of almost €20 million in 2022. Together with Quartzolit, TekBond and GCP Applied Technologies, it will complete Saint-Gobain's offering in the country.

IDP Chemicals, a Chryso licensee since 2018, employs 25 people on one site and is well positioned to support the construction dynamic in Egypt. The acquisition is expected to be finalized in the first quarter of 2023.
