Orange has announced that the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has validated its greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.

The operator is aiming for carbon neutrality as early as 2040, ten years ahead of industry recommendations, with ambitious intermediate milestones such as a 30% reduction in its scopes 1 & 2 by 2025 compared with 2015 (a target achieved two years ahead of schedule), and a 45% reduction in scopes 1, 2 & 3 emissions compared with 2021 by 2030.

To achieve these targets, Orange intends to optimize the energy efficiency of its networks and information systems, encourage the use of renewable energies, and promote the circular economy through recycling and reuse.
