HAMBURG (dpa-AFX) - Wind turbine manufacturer Nordex received more orders in the fourth quarter and for the year as a whole than in the previous year. In total, customers ordered 1270 wind turbines with a total output of 7.4 gigawatts last year, as the MDax company announced on Tuesday. This was 16 percent more capacity ordered than in the previous year. The Hamburg-based company recorded a stable average sales price of EUR 0.84 million per megawatt. "As expected, we received a large number of orders towards the end of the year," said Group CEO Jose Luis Blanco.

At almost 2.5 gigawatts, orders in the last quarter were up again on the already good previous quarter, said the manager. This represents an increase of almost 30 percent compared to the same period last year. However, the average sales price in this period fell from EUR 0.89 million to EUR 0.84 million per megawatt of output.

Nordex had already been predicting an increase in demand for 2023 for some time. However, the company is still struggling with high costs as well as depreciation and interest payments. In the second and third quarters, Nordex managed to return to profitability before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, but still posted a loss in its day-to-day business in the first nine months. Nordex was also in the red at the bottom line. The company will present its figures for the fourth quarter of 2023 and the year as a whole on February 29./men/stk
