Japan Tobacco Inc. Launches Two New Tobacco Vapor Products Under its Ploom Brand in the Online Store and Ploom Shops

Japan Tobacco Inc. announced that it will launch Ploom TECH+, a low temperature tobacco vapor product, and Ploom S, a high temperature tobacco vapor product, in its online store and Ploom shops from January 29, 2019 in Japan. These two new products are additional to Ploom TECH, currently on the market and highly popular among consumers for its features of no tobacco smoke smell and better usability. JT now offers the larger variety of tobacco vapor products in Japan to suit individual consumer preferences through the introduction of Ploom TECH+ and Ploom S, alongside Ploom TECH. The different heating temperatures provide specific product experiences to consumers. In the low temperature heating segment, Ploom TECH offers a clear taste, while the new Ploom TECH+ offers richer vapor and flavor to consumers. In the high temperature heating segment, Ploom S is suited to consumers who want to enjoy an authentic and familiar tobacco taste.
Japan Tobacco Inc. specializes in manufacturing and marketing of tobacco products. The group's products include primarily cigarettes, cigars, chewing and snuff tobaccos. Net sales break down by activity as follows:
- sale of tobacco products overseas (66%): 460 billion products sold in 2021, under the brands Winston, Camel, Silk Cut, Sobranie, Glamour, etc.;
- sale of tobacco products in Japan (24.1%): 67 billion products sold under the brands Cabin Prestige, Seven Stars, Pianissimo, Mild Seven, etc.;
- distribution of food products (6.3%);
- development of pharmaceutical products (3.5%): primarily for dyslipidemia, osteoporosis and Hepatitis C treatment;
- other (0.1%).
68.5% of net sales are abroad.
