DHL is sticking to its operating profit targets for the mail and parcel business in Germany, even under the new Postal Act.

"In terms of targets, (...) nothing is changing," said DHL CEO Tobias Meyer on Friday. "We have always had the goal that this division must earn more than one billion euros," he emphasized. This target for the operating profit (EBIT) remains in place. Otherwise, investments in universal service to provide citizens with nationwide coverage and in ecological sustainability could not be made. At midday, the Bundesrat gave the green light for the new Postal Act, which also provides for more competition. Deutsche Post is the market leader in Germany.
