Alum SA is a Romania-based manufacturer of alumina and aluminum hydroxide. Its main activity is the hydro-metallurgical processing of bauxite. The Company distributes its products nationally and internationally, in Switzerland and China. The Company produces approximately 500,000 tons of alumina and aluminum hydroxide per year. The Company produces calcined alumina by the Bayer process. The technological process assumes the existence of alkaline solutions to various degrees of dilution. As of December 31, 2010, Alro SA of Slatina holds a 99.38% stake in Alum SA.
