GERMANY: - EXPECTED LITTLE CHANGE - After stabilizing for two days, the Dax is likely to see little change in the middle of the week. Broker IG estimated the leading German index to be stable at 18,132 points just two and a half hours before the start of Xetra trading. Since Friday, the Dax had recovered by 0.7 percent and thus set itself apart from the 100-day average line. Unlike recently, there is hardly any impetus coming from the USA. After the recent record rally in technology stocks, only the broad market S&P 500 initially managed a minimal further high the previous evening. However, the Nasdaq selection index Nasdaq 100 at least defended its recent gains. There is no trading today, Wednesday, due to the Juneteenth holiday.

USA: - SLEEPING - After their recent record run, the US stock market took a break on Tuesday. The price gains were manageable. However, the virtually unleashed prices in the semiconductor sector once again showed no signs of stopping on their way up. Shares in Nvidia even overtook Apple and Microsoft as the most valuable company in the USA with their unbroken bull run. The Dow Jones Industrial closed at 38,834.86 points, a moderate gain of 0.15 percent. The broad market S&P 500 reached another record high during the course of the day and ended trading with a gain of 0.25 percent to 5487.03 points. It had already reached a high the previous day. The Nasdaq 100 was little changed, up 0.03% to 19,908.86 points. The technology-heavy index was thus denied a sixth record high in a row, as well as a rise above the 20,000-point mark.

ASIA: - UNIFORM - Asia's major stock markets failed to find a common direction on Wednesday. In Tokyo, Japan's leading index, the Nikkei 225, was barely changed shortly before the end of trading. In the Chinese special administrative region of Hong Kong, the technology-heavy Hang Seng Index was up by a good 2 percent, while the CSI 300, which tracks the most important stocks on the Chinese mainland stock exchanges, fell by 0.2 percent in late trading.
