São Paulo, April 4th, 2016 - SUZANO PAPEL E CELULOSE S.A. ("Suzano"), in clarification of the reports citing investigations involving offshore companies owned by hundreds of investors, including certain controlling shareholders of Suzano, known as the Panama Papers, announces to its shareholders and the general market that Suzano has no knowledge of any offshore company controlled by it that is the subject of any investigation by government authorities. As an exporter to over 80 countries, Suzano controls companies incorporated offshore that are used to distribute its products. All companies incorporated offshore and controlled by Suzano are duly declared to government authorities and are operated in absolutely normally and transparent way. We reinforce that Suzano's conduct is completely in conformity with governing law and that it adopts rigorous internal controls with regard to the capital markets and its investors to uphold quality and adherence to the principles of ethical conduct and good corporate governance.
