On Tuesday, French engineering group Spie announced the launch of a carbon calculator designed to help its customers achieve their decarbonization objectives.

This tool provides a concrete estimate of the emissions from the equipment and services the company offers its customers, which fall within scope 3 of their carbon footprint, it explains in a press release.

Spie explains that this algorithm is intended to be a major aid in initiating dialogue with its customers and raising their awareness of environmental data, by identifying their most significant emission items.

The calculator also complements Spie's sustainable engineering approach, which consists in proposing low-carbon alternatives and developing the share of activities that contribute significantly to mitigating climate change.

Spie says it is already working on the second phase of development to further improve the calculator's accuracy, while strengthening its databases with suppliers and third parties.
