The 6th Light Trail will take place in Braunschweig from June 15 to October 6, 2024 this year with the support of Salzgitter AG.

Sejla Kameric's installation consists, among other things, of Salzgitter steel, from which the striking letters of the artwork were made in the workshops of the steelworks.

The imposing steel letters that protrude from the ground under the Ottmer Bridge on John F. Kennedy Square in Braunschweig measure a good two meters: TGIF - stands for Thank God It's Friday. This acronym underlines the perpetual drive and the incessant pursuit of progress. Friday thus symbolizes not only a turning point, but also the departure towards climate neutrality and the transformation of industrial society. The videos projected onto the artwork using a projector impressively show the transition from the conventional industrial world to the new green economy.

'The installation impressively reflects the situation of the Salzgitter Group; we too are in the midst of the transformation towards a circular economy and CO2 - reduced steel production. In this way, we are actively shaping the change in the industry, setting standards and making an important social contribution,' says Thorsten Mollmann, Head of Communications and Brand.

A total of 13 works by renowned artists are presented, which shine in public spaces every day from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. and are accessible free of charge.
