The armaments group and automotive supplier Rheinmetall has received a major order for electric car parts.

The order is worth more than a quarter of a billion euros, the company announced on Monday. Rheinmetall is supplying contactors for a German premium manufacturer, which are to be used in a new vehicle platform from 2025. The vehicles are based on 900-volt technology, which should enable faster charging and a greater range for the cars. Contactors are needed when switching electric cars on and off.
