This Friday (Jan. 24), at 1:13 pm, we launched into the Brazilian gas pipeline network, the first gas re-gasified at the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Regasification Terminal located at the Bay of All Saints, in Salvador (state of Bahia).

The Bahia Regasification Terminal (TRBA) is capable of regasifying 14 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. With its entry into operation, our natural gas regasification capacity rises from 27 million cubic meters per day to 41 million cubic meters per day, nearly one and half times the gas import capacity from Bolivia. We currently also have the Pecém (state of Ceará) and Guanabara Bay (state of Rio de Janeiro) regasification terminals in operation, with capacity for, respectively, 7 million cubic meters per day and 20 million cubic meters per day of natural gas.

Imported from various suppliers in different parts of the world, the LNG is aimed to meet the domestic market's demand for natural gas. Its purpose is to provide greater flexibility and guarantee supply, increasing energy security in the Country, essential to encourage new investments.

With investments in the order of some $1 billion, TRBA is the third LNG regasification terminal in Brazil. Part of the Federal Government's Growth Acceleration Program (PAC), construction got underway at this terminal in 2012, which was completed within the deadline and created 3623 direct jobs in the region, with a nationalization index for equipment and services in the order of 90%.
