Butte, Mont. - May 24, 2017 - NorthWestern Energy has announced plans for the inaugural Beyond The Dam Festival and Bike Ride, a family event to be held in Great Falls on Saturday, June 10, 2017.
The event, to be headquartered at Black Eagle Park, will feature three bike rides of varying lengths on courses along the Missouri River. At least one of the rides will offer riders the opportunity to cross the Missouri at Cochrane Dam, which is typically closed to public use.
Proceeds from The Beyond The Dam event will go to the River's Edge Trail and Bike/Walk Montana.
'Our goal with the Beyond The Dam is to highlight the river and the role our hydroelectric dams play in our lives, all in connection with fun, family-oriented event,' said Brandy Powers, manager, Marketing and Creative Services at NorthWestern Energy. 'We hope this event will draw people from across the state and become an early-summer tradition.'
The Saturday event will begin at 10 a.m. Along with the bike rides, the event includes a festival in Black Eagle Park that will include live music, entertainment, food and giveaways.
The event, with rides geared towards families, intermediate and advanced riders, costs $10 per rider or $15 per family. The fee includes a T-shirt and a post-ride lunch for those who register by May 31.
