Lockheed Martin announces that it has launched - in partnership with various Department of Defense services and components - a PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) interceptor from an MK-70 launch platform to intercept a cruise missile in flight.

This is the first time the PAC-3 MSE has been launched in this configuration, using the virtualized Aegis weapon system to target a real threat.

Tom Copeman, Vice President of Strategy and Naval Programs at Lockheed Martin, said the success of the test demonstrated the company's commitment to developing integrated technologies to anticipate evolving threats.

These systems could provide the United States with a proven integrated air and missile defense (IAMD) capability, improving its ability to defend against advanced and maneuverable threats.
