Panasonic Automotive Systems has partnered with IBM to develop the "Panasonic Cognitive Infotainment" platform, which is designed to provide OEMs and fleet providers with solutions that combine Panasonic's infotainment expertise with IBM's Watson and cloud technologies. The platform, showcased at the ongoing CES 2017 in the United States, uses IBM Watson's cognitive capabilities of deep natural language processing and understanding to answer questions and give recommendations as well as directions while travelling. The platform also has an e-commerce interface to allow in-vehicle purchases. In addition, the system monitors vehicle condition for safer driving. Panasonic Automotive is working to optimise Bluemix, IBM's cloud platform, which provides access to Watson APIs (application programming interface) including Conversation, Natural Language Classifier, Text to Speech, Speech to Text, and Personality Insights. Bluemix will also enable Panasonic to integrate weather and Twitter data into its solutions to introduce additional insights into the vehicle experience.
