Costco is reportedly testing a membership card scanner, according to a report at Costco Insider.

The site posted photos of what looks like a tablet with a sign stating customers will be asked to scan card prior to entering a store in Washington state, according to a Fox Business report posted at the New York Post.

Shoppers responded both positive and negative about the scanner, with more than one predicting it will cause long lines at the entrance.

Another said it was welcome compared to having to produce the card at checkout.

Costco did not respond to a Fox Business inquiry but a spokesperson told the McClatchy News outlet the scanner is being used in a few stores, according to the Post report.
