BAKU, June 14 (Reuters) - Oil exports via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline which runs from Azerbaijan through Georgia to Turkey were down 3.6% year-on-year in January to May 2024 at 11.986 million metric tons, Azerbaijan's state statistics committee said on Friday.

The BTC pipeline is used to export oil from the Azeri, Chirag and Guneshli oilfields operated by BP.

Azerbaijan's total oil transit in January to May amounted to 15.971 million tons, of which 75.1% flowed through the BTC.

The volume of transit oil sourced from other countries such as Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan via the BTC rose to 2.237 million tons in the period, up from 1.948 million tons a year before, the data showed. (Reporting by Nailia Bagirova; Editing by Jan Harvey)
