(Alliance News) - RES - Recupero Etico Sostenibile Spa on Monday announced the notice of the push selection plant for plastics from single-material or multi-material separate collection of municipal waste and non-hazardous special waste at the industrial site in Pettoranello del Molise, in the province of Isernia.

This plant, developed on COPARM technology, employs 20 people and has a treatment capacity of 40,000 tons/year of plastic waste,

"It is equipped with 10 Pellenc optical selectors that allow to achieve greater efficiency of the industrial process by implementing a better and more effective division of all plastics by colors and polymers, thus ensuring a higher

percentage of material recovery to be reintroduced into the production cycle," reads the company's note.

By the first quarter, RES added, the plastics washing and granulation plant will also be completed, which will enable the reduction of rigid plastic packaging into thin, small flakes while simultaneously performing washing.

This plant will have a treatment capacity of 8,100 tons/year and will be fed by the plastics recovered in the push sorting process, which will then be valorized as a secondary raw material.

Both investments are part of the broader industrial project related to the Pettoranello del Molise site, which will see its completion with the future construction of the chemical recycling plant through pyrolysis, and were made partly with the proceeds from the IPO, which took place last May 2, and partly through dedicated financing lines provided by Banco BPM Spa.

The industrial investment in Pettoranello as a whole was also the subject of EUR9.6 million in public financing under the PNRR.

Antonio Lucio Valerio, CEO of RES, said, "With the investment in the push sorting plant and, later, the plastic waste washing plant, we are concretely following up on what was announced at the IPO. This significant step reflects our commitment to environmental sustainability and corporate responsibility, positioning us as a pioneer in adopting advanced practices and technologies to address plastic waste recovery. We will continue to vigorously pursue our mission of reducing environmental impact, promoting circularity of materials and actively contributing to building a more sustainable future for generations to come."

RES stock is up 0.2 percent at EUR4.34 per share.
