Airbus: IndiGo orders 30 350-900 aircraft
IndiGo, one of the world's fastest-growing airlines, says that the acquisition of these new wide-body aircraft, which can seat between 300 and 410 passengers, will enable it to strengthen its long-haul offering.
The group, which is already one of the main customers for the Airbus A320, explains that it wants to take advantage of the "boom" in the Indian aviation market, against a backdrop of the country's dynamic economy and improved household purchasing power, which is encouraging people to take vacations abroad.
According to Airbus, its A350-900s consume 25% less fuel than similar older-generation aircraft, thanks to new-generation engines and the use of lighter materials.
On the Paris Bourse, Airbus shares rose by 1.2% after this order, compared with a gain of around 0.5% for the SBF 120 index.
