CAMPBELL, Calif. (AP) _ 8x8 Inc. (EGHT) on Thursday reported a loss of $40.2 million in its fiscal third quarter.

The Campbell, California-based company said it had a loss of 38 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for stock option expense and non-recurring costs, were 2 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 3 cents per share.

The telecommunications services company posted revenue of $136.7 million in the period, also exceeding Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $133.1 million.

For the current quarter ending in March, 8x8 said it expects revenue in the range of $138.5 million to $140.5 million.

The company expects full-year revenue in the range of $519 million to $522 million.

8x8 shares have climbed 8.5% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $37.40, a rise of 92% in the last 12 months.
