The leading German index advanced by 0.9 percent to 16,690 points. "After the setback on yesterday's trading day, market participants seem to have recovered a little today," said Christian Henke from broker IG. On Thursday, the surprising persistence of US inflation had caused a negative mood on the stock market.

Airbus was one of the biggest winners on the German stock market at the end of the week, gaining 1.8 percent. The aircraft manufacturer delivered 735 commercial aircraft last year and thus extended its position as number one in the industry.
