The Indian market represents a clear opportunity for the Group, Antlitz emphasized. A total of around 250,000 vehicles roll off the production line there every year, mainly models for the Indian market. The Czech subsidiary Skoda is responsible for Volkswagen's business in India.
Volkswagen last agreed a cooperation with the Indian car manufacturer Mahindra in February. According to the agreement, the Wolfsburg-based car manufacturer will supply various components of its MEB vehicle platform to Mahindra. The Indian car manufacturer is the first external partner to also use Volkswagen's battery concept.
