Vestas Wind Systems A/S and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA are among the key winners in a tender held by Spanish utility Iberdrola for wind turbine maintenance contracts. Iberdrola announced that its renewables arm has awarded framework agreements with a combined value of EUR 110 million (USD 137 million). It has tendered deals for basic maintenance, for a two-year period, and the risk service for three years.

Overall, Iberdrola Renovables Energia SAU has awarded contracts for the maintenance of about 4,425 MW of operational wind farms in the Iberian Peninsula. Vestas and Siemens Gamesa will conduct preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance for 2,190 MW and 1,265 MW, respectively, at wind farms in Spain and Portugal. At the same time, Basque companies Ingeteam and Tamoin have won deals for work on 233.3 MW and 421 MW of capacity, respectively, while Galician company IM Future secured a contract for 218 MW and Portuguese company Efacec will service 96.9 MW.

Iberdrola noted that all of the contracts concern wind parks using Gamesa G4X, G5X and G6X wind turbines.
