As part of TOMRA's ongoing commitment to raise awareness of its industry-leading sorting solutions, the company has participated in the last three months in conferences and exhibitions in South America, North America, the Middle East, and Europe.

Of all these events, the most notable was a two-day global conference with the theme 'Future Perspectives in Recycling,' which TOMRA hosted in Germany. Involving industry experts, customers and media, this featured a series of presentations and group discussions at a congress centre in Koblenz and technical demonstrations in the Test Center of TOMRA's nearby global headquarters. Tom Eng, Senior Vice President and Head of TOMRA Sorting Solutions, Recycling, commented: 'By bringing together some of the world's most knowledgeable experts in recycling and waste management, this conference stimulated a fantastic exchange of ideas. Delegates gained new insights into everything from high-level environmental ideas to detailed technical practicalities. It's exciting for all of us to be at the heart of an industry heading towards an inventive and environmentally-important future.'
World-class experts also gathered to share latest industry knowledge at the two-day Oman Waste and Environmental Services Conference Exhibition at the Sheraton Oman Hotel in Muscat in mid-December. At the invitation of the event's organisers, Sebastian Ebers, Sorting Sales Engineer for the Middle East and Africa, shared information about TOMRA's solutions in 'The Automation in the Sorting of Municipal Solid Waste.

To bring TOMRA's industry know-how to the industry, in October Christoph Bach, Sales Director EMEA, presented the new AUTOSORT LASER to the press at Ecomondo, the leading green technologies exposition for the Euro-Mediterranean area, in Rimini, Italy. Sales Manager Tom Jansen also participated in a panel discussion on how to recycle high-tech products and explained TOMRA Sorting's technologies to recycle and recover materials from end-of-life vehicles.

Also in October, TOMRA's LIBS-based sorting technology stole the show at the Aluminum USA convention in Nashville, Tennessee. Here the spotlight was on the recently re-engineered X-TRACT and highly flexible COMBISENSE. Eric Thurston (Sales Manager Metals - Recycling) and Frank van de Winkle (Business Development Manager, Metals) met with hundreds of attendees, including representatives of the major automakers.

At the Salon des Maires et des Collectivitiés Locales, at the Porte de Versailles in Paris in November, the focus was on providing waste collection and recycling services to municipal authorities. Here Frédéric Durand, Director TOMRA Sorting France, introduced the latest AUTOSORT application, capable of separating PET bottles from PET trays with an accuracy of over 95% even when there is very mixed material input.

WasteExpo Brazil, held later in November in São Paulo, was dedicated to solid waste management in a country where about 80 million tons of waste are generated every year and but only 3% of that is recycled. At an event whose speakers included the Minister of State for the Environment, Carina Arita, Sales Manager TOMRA Sorting Brazil, highlighted the benefits of our AUTOSORT Series, a separator so popular it has now sold more than 4,000 units worldwide.
