Thales has announced that the Groupement Momentané d'Entreprise (GME), formed by Sabena technics and Thales, has been awarded a contract by the Direction Générale de l'Armement to renovate the French Air Force's fleet of CN-235 twin-turboprop tactical transport and logistics aircraft.
The 27 CN-235s will be fitted with modern avionics, enabling them to be integrated seamlessly into general air traffic, significantly enhancing tactical and public service operations, and increasing the availability of the fleet, whose operational life will be extended beyond 2040.
The first refurbished CN-235s will enter service with the armed forces from 2027.
