Thales Alenia Space España has provided its technology and products to a total of 29 satellites placed into orbit in 2011 worldwide, surpassing its previous record turnout of 21 satellites in 2010.

This data confirms Thales Alenia Space España position as the Spanish company with the largest international commercial presence and with the most number of systems and equipment manufactured and placed onboard satellites. Thales Alenia Space España equipped 29 satellites with more than 200 systems and equipment in the areas of telecommunications, radiofrequency and digital, all the products developed and manufactured in its facility in Tres Cantos (Madrid) and with multiple satellite applications: telecommunications (1), navigation (2), scientific satellites (2), Earth observation (3), and space infrastructure (4).

Along with the contributions made to these 29 satellites, it is worth mentioning the company's participation in Globalstar-2 telecommunication program (with 60 on board equipment supplied by the Spanish company at 12 satellites), W3C for Eutelsat operator, or Yahsat 1A for the Al Yah communication satellite company, among others. In Earth Observation mission to Space agencies worldwide for Aquarius/SAC-D, Megha Tropiques and the Pleiades-HR 1 high-resolution optical satellites.

In Navigation missions, is noticeable the success of the first tests done on the two In Orbit Validation (IOV) satellites of the European Galileo navigation program, carried out by the European Space Agency (ESA), in which was embarked dual TTC communication systems, as well as the Clock Monitoring Control Units (CMCU) with an accuracy of one second in three million years never before used in navigation. Finally, in Space infrastructure, has contributed on European (ATV) and the Japanese (HTV) unmanned vehicles to supply the International Space Station (ISS):, providing with Spread Spectrum telecommunications systems responsible for liaison with the control centres  via the NASA's TDRSS satellite system, and with the proximity links telecommunication systems for their automatic rendezvous manoeuvres with the ISS, and providing control units of the mechanisms for the deployment of solar panels.

Thales Alenia Space is currently working in more than a hundred of space-related projects and R & D, developing advanced telecommunications systems, repeaters, radiofrequency equipment, digital units and electronics for optical observation and detection instruments.

With over two decades of activity since its establishment, Thales Alenia Space España consolidated its leadership as the largest supplier of telecommunications equipment of the Spanish space sector, with a total participation in more than 270 projects for more than 180 satellite programs worldwide for civil and military uses.
