Terra Mauricia Ltd. reported unaudited earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2016. For the quarter, the company reported turnover of MUR 800.5 million compared to MUR 700 million a year ago. Operating loss was MUR 8.5 million compared to MUR 45.7 million a year ago. Profit before taxation was MUR 36.2 million compared to MUR 18.6 million a year ago. Profit attributable to owners of the parent was MUR 3.6 million or MUR 0.02 per share compared to loss of MUR 9.8 million or MUR 0.04 per share a year ago. Net cash from operating activities was MUR 222.2 million compared to MUR 97.5 million a year ago.

The company expects better results for the current financial year from its Sugar cluster due to improved estimated output and more favourable prices in 2016. The Energy and Brands clusters are performing well and expects this trend to continue. Barring the 2015 reversal of impairment and despite lower profits anticipated from some of associates, the company foresee the Group's overall performance to remain satisfactory in 2016.
