FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) - The technology group Siemens is investing a further 100 million euros in the expansion of its switchgear plant in Frankfurt's Fechenheim district. By mid-2027, a further 400 jobs are to be created at the site in the east of the city, which currently employs 1900 people, the company announced on Thursday.

Siemens plans to convert the buildings on a 3.5-hectare site, which has now been purchased, into production areas and offices over the next few months. Last year, Siemens had already invested 30 million euros in the Frankfurt plant and expanded its production capacities, among other things.

Siemens manufactures switchgear for the supply and distribution of energy in Frankfurt, including transformer stations. According to a spokesperson, deliveries are made to industrial companies, municipalities, hospitals and airports worldwide./ben/DP/ngu
