Shell announces that the results of its 'Shell Recharge Driver Programme' study have shown that the quality of the recharging experience is now 'crucial' for electric vehicle (EV) drivers.

After surveying 33,696 drivers in Europe, China and the USA, it emerged that around 59% of European, 76% of American and 72% of Chinese drivers would travel further for sites offering fast charging and additional amenities.

In addition, three quarters of American and Chinese drivers are willing to pay a premium for faster charging.

Shell reports that demand for used EVs is increasing, with 65% of Europeans and 71% of Americans considering the purchase of a used EV.

In addition, the study shows that confidence in EV range is improving, with over half of drivers less concerned than a year ago.

The EV driving experience also exceeds expectations, with many drivers finding driving an EV more enjoyable than expected.
Shell concludes that EV drivers are looking for an enriched charging experience, and that the industry has an opportunity to accelerate the transition to electric mobility by meeting these expectations.
