Roche announced on Monday that it has renewed its 46-year partnership in diagnostic medical devices with Japan's Hitachi for a further 10 years.

The two groups, which have been pooling their know-how in fields such as engineering and manufacturing since 1978, recall that as part of their collaboration they developed the first multi-channel analyzer and jointly automated immunology processes.

To date, Roche and Hitachi boast an installed base of over 84,000 diagnostic platforms worldwide.

By the end of the year, they plan to launch two new cobas analyzers, the c 703 and the cobas ISE neo, as well as a new solution called cobas Mass Spec.
