The Peruvian government is looking to acquire 200 petrol stations from Repsol, S.A. in an effort to strengthen the capacity of Petroleos del Peru - PETROPERU S.A to distribute fuel, Energy and Mines Minister Jorge Merino said. “We are waiting for a communication from Repsol to know their decision concerning the sale of their downstream assets, and the state is interested in the service stations. We would like to take GNV [natural gas for vehicles] to the provinces to offer it in the same conditions that we sell it here in Lima, and for that Petroperu must have a stronger presence with more service stations," Merino said.

Platts Commodity News reported that Merino did not say on how much Peru would be willing to pay for the service stations while Repsol officials in Lima were not available for comment.
