TOKYO, Japan - January 4, 2012 - Please see below for a
summary of the New Year's message delivered by CEO
Yoshihiko Miyauchi to the management of the ORIX Group.
A Period of Economic Social Reform is a Great Opportunity
for ORIX Group
Overriding Environment
Last year was positioned as the first year in ORIX's new
growth track, and our task was to show the market that
ORIX's performance recovery is for real. Even amid a
difficult economic environment we were able to show steady
recovery. However, the environment surrounding ORIX is
changing dramatically, with the overextended financial
markets damaged and movement towards strengthened
regulations and decrease in scale. ORIX needs to evolve its
business model in order to respond to this.
A Period of Economic Social Reform is a Great Opportunity
for ORIX Group
We are in a period of economic social reform. It is an
interesting situation for those who are thinking of trying
something new during this revolutionary period. I believe
that this environment is a great opportunity for ORIX.
Creating New "Finance + Services"
We will evolve finance, which is our base business, and
need to create new "Finance + Services." The key to growth
is whether or not we can create something new on our own
and find and create our market. There are a lot of new and
interesting buds forming in the ORIX Group, and we will
combine our Group expertise and know-how to foster
these.
Corporations Have the Grit to Pull the Country Up
Only the driving force of corporations can break the
Japanese economy free from its stagnation. Companies need
to pluck up and have the grit to pull the country up. We
can make an impact in the world by working together with a
spirit of willingness to take on challenges and creating
innovation.
