Optimus Gold Corp. announced it has acquired by staking the Leif Gold Project, comprised of 150 mineral claims situated in Newfoundland, Canada about 30 kilometres south of the company's Eagle Gold Project. The Eagle Gold Project is comprised of 150 mineral claims situated within the Central Gold Belt of Newfoundland, Canada, which has a large number of gold occurrences with relatively little modern exploration. The company's Eagle Gold Project is situated in central Newfoundland within the Dunnage Zone, which is floored by the clastic, volcanic and ophiolitic rocks of early paleozoic age intruded by the granitoids of silurian to carboniferous age. The Dunnage Zone is believed to be comprised of two large subzones, the Notre Dame and Exploits Subzones, which are separated by an extensive fault system including the Red Indian Line and Victoria Lake Shear Zone, among others. The Victoria Lake Shear Zone is associated with many gold showings and occurrences and can be traced across Newfoundland. The company’s Eagle Gold Project is situated in proximity of the Victoria Lake Shear Zone and is believed to have significant gold discovery potential.
