Occidental Petroleum Corporation reported earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2024. For the first quarter, the company reported sales was USD 5,975 million compared to USD 7,225 million a year ago. Revenue was USD 6,010 million compared to USD 7,258 million a year ago.

Net income was USD 888 million compared to USD 1,263 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 0.6 compared to USD 1.08 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 0.56 compared to USD 1 a year ago.

Basic earnings per share was USD 0.81 compared to USD 1.08 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share was USD 0.75 compared to USD 1 a year ago.

Occidental Petroleum Corporation is one of the world's largest oil groups in the United States. Net sales (including intra-group) break down by activity as follows: - exploration and production of hydrocarbon (70%): 226 million barrels of crude oil, 91 million barrels of natural gaz liquids and 18.4 billion m3 of natural gas produced in 2021; - fabrication of chemicals (19.4%): basic chemicals (chlorine, caustic soda, ethylene, etc.) and performance chemicals (primarily PVC, pigments, and plastics); - transportation, storage and distribution of hydrocarbons (10.6%). The United States account for 84.2% of net sales.
