Former Nissan Motor Co. boss Carlos Ghosn on Wednesday reiterated his innocence as widely expected, in his first public appearance since a daring escape from Japan to Lebanon late last year.

From the very outset of a press conference in Beirut, Ghosn unleashed a storm of criticism against Nissan and Japanese authorities about his arrest in November 2018.

Ghosn, facing trial in Japan over alleged financial misconduct, left his residence in Tokyo on Dec. 29 before fleeing to Lebanon via Turkey.
