CHICAGO (AP) _ Mondelez International Inc. (MDLZ) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter earnings of $1 billion.

The Chicago-based company said it had net income of 71 cents per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 72 cents per share.

The maker of Oreo cookies, Cadbury chocolate and Trident gum posted revenue of $7.66 billion in the period, which beat Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $7.54 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $4.3 billion, or $3.04 per share. Revenue was reported as $28.72 billion.
