Daimler AG announced that it will invest EUR 190 million (USD 258.5 million) in its site in Vitoria, northern Spain, to prepare for the assembly of the new generation of medium-size vans, which will start in 2014. The money will be spent mostly on modernizing and reorganizing the plant's body shop, paint shop, and assembly units. The site's logistics will also be optimized.

The production site has been manufacturing the Viano and Vito models since 2003. With about 3,100 employees the plant assembles about 75,000 vans annually.
