A Bechtel-led team was selected by the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) to manage and operate the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tenn., and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas. Consolidated Nuclear Security, LLC, a team that includes Bechtel National, Inc., Lockheed Martin, ATK, and SOC, will manage and operate the facilities within NNSA's Nuclear Security Enterprise. The five-year contract with NNSA includes options that may extend the contract term up to an additional five years, based on performance.

Both Y-12 and Pantex are charged with maintaining the safety, security, reliability, and effectiveness of the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile. Y-12 has an emphasis on the processing and storage of uranium and development of technologies associated with those activities. It also reduces the global threat posed by nuclear proliferation and terrorism.

Pantex's mission includes providing assembly and dis-assembly operations.
