Press Release: Camco wins Global Commodity Business Award

At the inaugural Commodity Business Awards announced last week, Camco, a global developer of emission reductions and clean energy projects, was awarded this year's Award for Excellence in Renewable Energy Markets for its pioneering work in the field of renewable energy.Camco, a public company, is a global developer of emission reductions and clean energy projects. Camco operates in the US, the UK, China, Africa, Russia and South East Asia. The company has been developing projects for over 20 years and has proven to be the market leader in the areas of project development, technical delivery and policy development, working with local industry, multinational companies, governments and regulatory bodies. For the past three years, Camco has worked with a number of governments in sub-Saharan Africa on developing renewable energy feed-in tariffs, including South Africa, Uganda and Botswana. This has included the development of network avoided cost and levelised cost tariff models and a renewable energy scenario tool. These have enabled policy makers to assess the potential cost impacts of various kinds of renewable energy and establish a viable programme that will attract investors while restricting negative economic impacts such as electricity price increases.Camco has also assisted regulators and governments in the development of institutional guidelines and regulatory frameworks to support the implementation of feed-in tariffs and is now investigating how international climate change funds can be used to expand feed-in tariffs in sub-Saharan Africa in particular for higher cost technologies such as solar PV and CSP. Camco is also looking at the role of feed-in tariffs for off-grid rural energy programmes. The Award for Excellence in Renewable Energy Markets was presented to Steven Heape, Principal Consultant, Camco Advisory Services by Gyles Brandreth, celebrated British author, broadcaster, actor and former Conservative Member of Parliament.____________________________________________Commodity Business Awards, 2010:The inaugural Commodity Business Awards were announced this evening at a special ceremony at London's Glaziers Hall, London Bridge, presented by Gyles Brandreth. The Commodity Business Awards recognise and reward excellence in twenty key commodity business disciplines; whether that's in the physical and/or financial arena, in trading, risk management, structuring, finance, research, advisory, logistics, legal, or specialist technology."Commodity business has finally been elevated to its rightful place: Critical. Over the last decade commodities have moved from a somewhat chaotic niche, into a mainstream investment opportunity. As we grow older and around 2-3 billion souls are added to our ranks, the responsibilities we have as to how the Earth's natural resources are developed and evenly spread remains the challenge," says Guy Isherwood, Awards Patron and Publisher/Editor of Commodities Now magazine."These Awards recognise and reward talent and excellence throughout the commodity complex ... to those companies making a significant impact on the way commodity business is conducted - recognising those institutions making a positive contribution to the development of markets, client responsibility, and investor satisfaction," added Isherwood."In our business we have developed global market-based mechanisms to achieve the desired outcomes and, whilst not perfect, the responsibilities we have to our employers, shareholders and clients should not overshadow our need to develop markets responsibly and ethically.""We intend that these Awards become an important marker in the commodities calendar in years to come," he added.____________________________________________Enquiries:Commodity Business Awards Guy IsherwoodPublisher/Editor, Commodities Now magazine +44 (0)20 7584 0000Camco Ltd Scott McGregor, Chief Executive Officer Graeme Halder, Chief Financial Officer +44 (0)20 7121 6100M:Communications (Public relations Advisor)Charlotte Kirkham, +44 (0)20 7920 2331Elly Williamson, +44 (0)20 7920 2339About CamcoCamco International Limited (Camco, AIM: CAO) is a global developer of emission reductions and clean energy projects with operations in the US, the UK, China, Africa, Russia and SEA.
