ShareCover, Australia's flexible insurance for short-stay hosts, has partnered with the nation's party icon Corey Worthington to help educate Australians on how to best protect their short-stay rental properties this summer.

As Australia gears up for the summer holiday season, a surge is anticipated in Aussie holiday-makers ready to travel and keen to use short-stays again.

ShareCover, part of Australia's largest general insurer IAG, offers a flexible pay-per-night policy, with cover starting from $6* a night. It covers casual short-stay accommodation hosts renting out their property on platforms like Airbnb, Stayz and Booking.com.

When people are on holiday accidents can happen. Some guests may also check out with a little more than they checked in with. It is no surprise then, that 93% of ShareCover's claims come from incidents over the summer holiday period**, making now the time for short-stay hosts to safeguard their properties.

As we head into the summer holiday season, ShareCover wants to educate and equip short-stay hosts so that they're protected in the event their property is damaged or an accident occurs.

"It's important for short-stay hosts to understand that damage caused by a guest may not be covered under their existing home and contents insurance. As we head into the summer holiday season, ShareCover wants to educate and equip short-stay hosts so that they're protected in the event their property is damaged or an accident occurs," said IAG Chief Marketing Officer, Brent Smart.

With ShareCover's most common holiday rental insurance claim being damage to property and contents from guests having parties in the home, the insurance provider has launched DisasterClass, with The Master of Disaster himself, Corey Worthington. The online platform features a series of tutorials for hosts on how to help protect their short-stay properties against unruly guests, holiday-mode accidents and stolen goods.

In 2008, Corey Worthington hosted the biggest house party ever in Melbourne, making it an infamous moment in pop culture. Being an instantly recognisable symbol of in-home mayhem, Corey is perfectly positioned to share his extensive knowledge on the matter.

"Guests can get out of control, and I should know! Given my first-hand experience when it comes to throwing an epic party, I've teamed up with ShareCover to share my expertise on helping to protect and secure your holiday home from rowdy and careless or light-fingered guests," said Corey Worthington.

Another common claim received by ShareCover includes damage to property and contents from incorrect use of appliances by guests, such as the misuse of ovens, spas and pools.

The Australian suburbs with the most short-stay rental damage claims are Pointer Mountain (NSW) and Vaucluse (NSW), closely followed by Warwick Farm (NSW), Nelson Bay (NSW), Randwick (NSW), Hampton (VIC) and Rye (VIC).
