TOKYO, July 3 (Reuters) - Lubricant shipments from Idemitsu Kosan's Chiba refinery, near Tokyo, have been suspended due to a fire on Tuesday, but other facilities including a crude distillation unit (CDU) are operating normally, a company spokesperson said.

A fire broke out at the lubricants production facility early in the afternoon and was extinguished by evening, with one employee injured, Japan's second-biggest oil refiner said on Tuesday.

The 190,000-barrel-per-day CDU and other secondary units at Chiba continued to operate as usual, the spokesperson said on Wednesday.

The company is still investigating the cause of the fire, and scrutinising the impact on lubricant shipments and how they would be supplemented, the spokesperson said. (Reporting by Yuka Obayashi; Editing by Rashmi Aich)
