Nexcelle, the joint venture of GE's Middle River Aircraft Systems and the Safran group's Aircelle, today announced the appointment of Huntley Myrie as its new president.

Myrie brings extensive experience in program management, design engineering, customer support and the aftermarket business as Nexcelle develops nacelle systems for the next generation of integrated propulsion systems to equip commercial airliners and business jets.

He has worked at GE Aviation since 1990, and most recently was General Manager - Services Solutions. In this role, he launched a business unit for new service offerings that include digital collaboration solutions such as the myEnginestm applications that provide commercial aircraft engine fleet monitoring and management; along with the Fuel and Carbon Solutions consultation service, which helps airlines reduce the amount of jet fuel they use and emissions their aircraft produce.

Previously, Myrie was General Manager of Small Commercial Engine Services, responsible for the aftermarket business on all CF34 and CT7 engines used by regional and business aircraft; and as a program director in the Military Systems Operation, with business, safety, and field reliability responsibilities for engines powering the F/A-18 Hornet combat aircraft and the T38 trainer.

Other assignments at GE Aviation included business unit responsibility for managing long-term services agreements on the CF6 engine family, as well as roles in design engineering, Six Sigma business management strategy, customer support engineering, and project management leadership.

He joined GE Aviation on the Engineering Development Program after earning a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Myrie later obtained a Master's of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University.

Myrie succeeds Steve Walters, who was Nexcelle's first president - having led the joint venture since 2009. Walters becomes the Product Leader for GE Aviation's nacelle and aerostructures activities, with management and strategic development responsibilities for this line of business.

Created in 2008, Nexcelle has been selected to supply the nacelle systems for two major engine programs: the CFM International LEAP-X1C integrated propulsion system on COMAC's C919 airliner, and the GE Passport 20 engine for Bombardier's Global 7000 and 8000 business jet aircraft.
