An additional $10,000 in rewards is available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the 2011 arson at PECO's substation in the Holmesburg section of Philadelphia. This money, combined with a $10,000 reward previously offered by the Philadelphia Field Division, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), brings the total reward to $20,000.

"The safety of our customers, the community and our employees is always our top priority, and that is why we are working hard with local officials to identify those responsible," said PECO President and CEO Denis P. O'Brien. "This is an extremely serious situation. Tampering with electrical infrastructure can be fatal to the person damaging our equipment - it also can cause serious injuries to the public, our employees, firefighters and police personnel, and can cause severe damage to the community and personal property as well."

The incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on Monday, October 24, 2011 along the 4600 block of Rhawn St. The joint investigation continues by fire investigators from the ATF, the Philadelphia Fire Marshal's Office, Philadelphia Police Department and PECO Corporate Security.

The public's assistance is being sought to provide information that may help investigators solve the case. Anyone with information should call the ATF 24/7 hotline at 1-888-ATF-FIRE (1-888-283-3473) or e-mail ATFTips@atf.gov.
