(Alliance News) - Eni Spa announced Wednesday that its subsidiary Plenitude Spa, through its subsidiary Be Charge, and Merkur, Slovenia's largest technical DIY retailer, have signed a strategic partnership for the installation of innovative electric vehicle charging stations at Merkur shopping malls across Slovenia.

The agreement includes the installation, construction and operation of 62 technologically advanced fast and ultrafast charging points across the country and aims to contribute to the spread of electric vehicle infrastructure and promote more sustainable mobility in the territory. The first Plenitude charging stations, a subsidiary of Eni, will be available at 24 Merkur centers as early as the end of 2024, and the entire project will be completed by early 2026.

Paolo Martini, managing director of Be Charge and head of e-Mobility at Plenitude, said, "Merkur is a key partner in expanding our electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Slovenia. With this project, we intend to make our contribution to more sustainable mobility in the country by offering e-drivers state-of-the-art charging solutions and high-quality service."

"We are proud to sign this strategic partnership that will give our customers easy access to a reliable and fast charging infrastructure. For Merkur, the quality of service and management of the charging stations was a key factor in choosing Plenitude as a partner," said Jure Kapetan, general manager of Merkur trgovina doo.

Plenitude is present in Slovenia in the retail energy market through Adriaplin doo and in the electric mobility sector through its subsidiary Be Charge.

Eni's stock is up 1.1 percent at EUR13.93 per share.
