GDF SUEZ Energia Polska just completed, the world's biggest, 100% biomass fired energy unit in Polaniec, Poland. The Green Unit, equipped with the latest technology to reduce CO2 emissions, has a production capacity of 205 MW.

Poland strives to produce 15% of its energy from renewable sources until 2020.

The Green Unit contributes to the achievement of these objectives in two ways:

  • it will reduce the annual emission of carbon dioxide by over 1.2 million tons,
  • it will contribute to the reliability of Poland's energy supply via diversification of sources and optimization of the energy mix.
