PLAINFIELD, Ind. - After the kids at Fayette Elementary School in West Terre Haute watched the live performance of 'The Conservation Caper' last year, they took seriously the challenge to earn $2,500 for their school by signing up the greatest number of Duke Energy families to receive free energy kits. The students won the grand prize by signing up 655 families, which surpassed the second-place school by more than 300 families.

The kits include LED bulbs, an energy-efficient shower head, electric switch and outlet insulators, faucet aerators and a hot water gauge card. They were distributed to the families late last year.

The students got excited about the contest after watching the 25-minute live stage show about energy conservation presented by The National Theatre for Children (NTC). The lively and energetic stage presentation is designed to engage elementary students in green living and saving energy.

Duke Energy Indiana sponsors several NTC energy conservation shows at schools throughout its 69-county service territory. The school programs and energy kits for families are provided at no out-of-pocket cost.

More information about NTC is available at www.nationaltheatre.com.
